About Me

Florian Linscheid

My name is Dr.-Ing. Florian Linscheid and I am a research associate at the Institute for Materials Resource Management at the University of Augsburg.

In July 2022, I completed my PhD there under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Markus Sause, which involved combining several acoustic methods for condition monitoring in a unified, common sensor network. For this, I had developed a new ultrasonic sensor capable of measuring these different methods and created a MATLAB software framework to enable a real-time monitoring system for condition monitoring of industrial equipment, especially milling machines.

I was able to show that combining different measurement methods into a single sensor network is an effective way to perform low-cost, comprehensive condition monitoring for components, processes, and tools, which has not been possible in this form before. Reducing the hardware needs to a single sensor type for different measurement methods also increases the incentive for transfer this system to practical applications.

Currently, I continue to work as a post-doc in the “Condition Monitoring” working group in which our team is working on various projects in which machine and sensor data information are obtained to gain insights about processes like CNC milling, friction stir welding or the resin infiltration process.
